Get To Know...... Wolf Blood Earth

Before I get into the normal interview regarding Wolf Blood Earth, I want to stop and take a second to explain something about WBE that may catch you a bit by surprise. You see.......Wolf Blood Earth give you the full embodiment and enriched sound of a full band, but the  fact of the matter is that Wolf Blood Earth is only one man.

I've had the pleasure of speaking with the man behind the music, Cody Sheltra, from time to time over the past few months and he sends out notifications of when he's got some new material to check out even when it remains in demo. I can sincerely tell you now that if anyone's looking for a guitarist for a band that wants to deliver REAL music with a real direction rather than putting out noise just to appease a recording contract or to appease the lamestream media, you need to get in touch with this guy.

You will have the opportunity to not only hear but feel the music reach deep within the deep recesses of not only your mind, but your emotions and your very soul. True music is played from a place that only musicians know where I'm talking about. It's a whole other universe that we simply enjoy bringing you little pieces of whenever we can through a medium that will capture and envelop all of the senses and set the mind and imiagination free. So, with that being said........let's delve into a piece of that universe with Cody Sheltra. I give you

DB: How are you brother? Give me a little history behind W.B.E. Where are you from?

CS: My name is Cody, and I am 31 years old. I hail from Newport, VT originally, but now reside in Swanton, VT. I grew up in a redneck state, growing older as a metal head. My passion for music came at an early age of 12. I first heard South of Heaven and Ghost Of War by Slayer and fell in love with metal. I picked my first electric guitar up at 14 years old and was taught by my guidance counselor. (It) Was classic stuff nothing heavy but was worth every second. I have been in a band back in my high school years. We was named "Kojax". Nu-Metal kind of music. (It) Was me and my best friend John (who played the drums). And after high school we kinda went our seperate ways and thats when I started doing solo projects. Didn't do much back then, until it bloomed within the last few years to where I am today.

DB: You're obviously a very talented artist. How long have you been playing? What kind of equipment do you use?

CS: I have been playing guitar since I was 14 years old. I play little drums and I play keyboard. I play a Washburn 7 string X-Series Electric Guitar and a Zoom G1XNext Effects Pedal. I do all my recording on the PC. Using Audacity as my recorder. And I use FL Studio 10 XXL Producer Edition for my drums.

DB: What is the meaning behind the name Wolf Blood Earth?

CS: Wolf meaning spirit, Blood meaning Life, and Earth meaning Home. I like to be unique. Plus Wolves are my favorite animal.

DB: Awesome. Wolves just happen to be my favorite as well. I figured the name had a much deeper meaning and it's good to get confirmation of the nature of it. Reminds me of the Native American part of my heritage. How would you classify your style?

CS: MeloDeath I guess. My style is expansive and varies depending on how I feel and what I feel like putting out in emotion. I range from Melodic, to Death, to Speed, to Thrash, to core genres as well. But my favorite is mixing Melodic melodies with technical core riffs.

DB: Who/what are your musical inspirations?

CS: I have many. But the biggest influence in my life as far as a musician/hero goes is Kurt Cobain. But Metal is my number one inspiration, music wise.

DB: Have you released any music other than on SoundCloud?

CS: (People can fine Wolf Blood Earth on) Also on reverbnation, and a facebook page.

DB:  What is your favorite song to perform/play and why?

CS: I have 2. Hurt by Johnny Cash because its true and pure emotions. And Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyrics have meaning.

DB: What do you want people to get from your music?

CS: I want to give people something new and great to listen to. Something they can come back to over time and have it be their "crutch" if you know what I am talking about.

DB: What are your goals in the Music Industry?

CS: To make it big time. To become famous in the music industry. To be a star if you will.

DB: What is coming up in the near future for Cody Sheltra & Wolf Blood Earth?

CS: No idea at the moment. Taking things one step at a time.Especially living the busy life and a wedding coming up next year.

DB:  Congratulations on the upcoming nuptuals. It's a great time and a great experience obviously once you've found the right person. Any plans to tour and if so, do you have any musicians that you have worked with or currently work with that would join you?
CS: No plans to tour, it would be quit difficult to perform a one man band concert lol. And no to the 2nd question.

DB: To follow up on the last question, who would you love to tour with if you had the opportunity to go on tour with anyone of your choosing?

CS: Born Of Osiris, Whitechapel, Within The Ruins, The Browning, Trivium, Fear Factory to just name a few.

DB: Well....thanks for giving us some insight behind what makes the music flow like a river through the oceans of time and of the mind. I know that I, for one, will be looking forward to hearing more of your material. Until then.....have fun prepping for the big day and keep the music coming!!

As for all of you readers, you're probably asking where the tunes are as I don't give interviews without something to back up my claims regarding the music.....never fear. The music is below. Enjoy & make sure you get over to Cody's pages for Wolf Blood Earth and show your support. I know I already let the cars stopped with me at the lights on the highways and byways enjoy some tunes they're likely not heard before.
