Get To Know - Cry To The Blind

Yes.........you've read that correctly.

You may know this next act in line for the MDG's GTK series from not what has been labeled as a "cover" of but rather their MASTERFUL rendition that is a thousand percent improvement of Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball.

I give you..............Jon Lamanna - Vocals, Guitar, Jesse Maty - Guitar, Vocals, Ryan Mcfaul - Guitar, Vocals, Jay Telarico - Drums, Samples & Kory Maclauchlan - Bass Guitar. Collectively known as...........................

Cry to the Blind is a heavy modern rock band from Upstate New York. Focused on creating a theraputic release for their fans, their music takes a positive spin on the negative energy that surrounds us every day. Their sound has the aggression of current modern rock bands, combined with the soul of music from past generations. Drawing on influences from metal to classic rock, the band channels their musical experience into a sound that is original, thought provoking, and undeniably real.

Cry To The Blind has performed with the following national acts: 3 Days Grace , 3 Doors Down, 10 Years,12 Stones, Adelita's Way, Alice in Chains, All That Remains, Alter Bridge, Art Of Dying, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Black Tide, Bullet For My Valentine, Candlebox, Chevelle, Circa Survive, Coheed and Cambria, Dirty Heads, Drowning Pool, Egypt Central, Escape The Fate, Filter, Flogging Molly, Flyleaf, HURT, In This Moment, Jane's Addiction, Nonpoint, Otherwise, Papa Roach, RED, Sick Puppies, Seether, Sevendust, Soil, Street Sweeper Social Club, Trapt, Smile Empty Soul,Taproot, Weaving the Fate, and many many more

I recently had the opportunity to spend some time speaking with Jesse Maty to peer inside the minds of the band that took the world by storm.

DB: What is the meaning behind the name Cry To The Blind?
JM: It means that we want to help people to realize their full potential in life through our music. Alot of people just accept their circumstances and never try to change things out of fear. We seek to inspire and empower people with our positive message.

DB: How would you classify your style?
JM: We are modern rock with a hint of metal. Our style really varies from song to song. We try not to stay limited to just hard rock (we have an acoustic record and perform acoustic live with the full band frequently) because we feel music should reflect the emotions we experience in life (love, hate, anger, joy, confusion, frustration). The songs we write take on whatever emotion we were dealing with when writing the song.

DB: Have you released any albums or EP's?
JM: We have 2 full length rock albums "From Conflict to Clarity" in 2010 and "From Now On" in 2012. We also released an acoustic EP called "Windows" in 2013.

DB: Most would not expect a rock band to not only cover but vastly improve a pop song, but you guys did a cover of Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball and absolutely took the scene by storm with your rendition. How did that come to happen?
JM: It was pure luck and chance truthfully. We didn't pay much to record it, and we just did it for fun because we thought the song was good, but Miley's version didn't hit hard enough for us. We put very little into it and got an amazing result, it's been incredible.

DB: What is your favorite song to perform and why?
JM: "Angerfly" from our first record will always be our favorite live song. There's just something about hearing the crowd sing along to the chorus, and the part where it says "let my anger fly!" always sets it off.

DB: What do you want people to get from your music? Is there a message you're trying to get across and if so, what would that message be?
JM: We want to entertain people, but at the same time, we want to start a fire in them. We want to write songs that change the way people think about their circumstances. Depression runs rampant in society today, and we want to destroy it.

DB: What are your goals in the Music Industry?
JM: We want to become a band that people look to for inspiration, and globally. We'd love to sign a deal, but if we need to do this on our own, we will.

DB: What bands do you hope to tour with in the future? If you could put a dream tour together, who would be in the lineup with Cry?
JM: We really dig Nothing More right now.....I'd say those guys, Shinedown, and maybe Incubus. Those are some big influences on our sound for sure.

DB: What is coming up in the near future for Cry To The Blind?
JM: Our new single "Unbroken" just hit the radio, so the sky is the limit. We are actively seeking a record contract, and things are looking up. We are working with some great people that can definitely take us to the next level.

Well Jesse.....I can certainly tell you that MDG will continue to provide promo and other services for CTTB. I look forward to speaking with you further to bring the readers and listeners more, but with that being said, let's get back to work so that we can do just that for the fans.
