Close Grip Vocalist Murdered

Salt Lake City hardcore band Close Grip’s frontman, Brad Hancock, was shot and killed after a performance at local music venue the Core on Saturday, Nov. 15.

According to reports, the singer intervened in an argument between his brother and suspect Quincy Ear Lawson. After Lawson was lead outside of the venue, Lawson allegedly shot Hancock several times before fleeing. He was arrested on Sunday (Nov. 16) and he is being held at the Salt Lake County jail under suspicion of homicide.

Hancock and his band, Close Grip, were opening for California-based rock act Soul Search when the shooting took place.

“As many of you have heard, our vocalist Brad was shot and killed outside of our show last night,” his bandmates wrote in a statement posted to Facebook yesterday. “This is very hard for us as he was not only an amazing vocalist, but an even more amazing friend.”

“We wanna say thanks to everyone who came to any of our shows, checked out our music and put us on shows,” they added. “Brad really put his heart and soul into his band … Thanks for the support throughout the past year.”

They also included a link for donations for Hancock’s family, which you can get more information on via this link: http://www.gofundme.com/hcf384   All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Brad's wife and son.

MusicDiscussionGroup extends our deepest condolences to Hancock’s bandmates, family and friends.
